Year 1

Welcome to Year 1

This is the place where, over the course of this academic year, you will be provided with our newsletters, useful information about the year group and some highlights from your child's learning in Year 1.

Home Learning

We will use seesaw to update you with home learning messages.

Please ensure that your child brings their  reading books, along with their reading record book to school every day.  Reading records are monitored by us on a regular basis so please sign and/or write a comment in them at least once a week.

If you would like access to more colour-coded reading books you can find them on the following websites:

Oxford Owl

Collins Big Cat

(log into the teacher portal with username: and password: Parents20!)

Mathletics activities will be set each week during term time which is closely linked to the learning taking place in the classroom. For a challenge your child can also 'play live' to build their speed and confidence.

We also recommend Hit the Button which is an interactive maths game with quick fire questions on number bonds.  These will help to help develop your child's mental maths skills.

Inspired by Naughty Bus, we made our own buses using cardboard boxes. Here are 1SB playing with theirs.

In science we are learning about seasonal change and the weather. We made rain gauges to monitor rainfall.

In Maths we have been practising our number bonds to 10.
