This term we are going to look at how different religions help others and the environment.

Activity 1

To find out why Christians consider it important to care for others & the environment.

 

What is a charity? Can you think of any charities that you know or have heard of? Have you heard of any of these charities? Christian Aid, The Fairtrade Foundation, TheTearfund, Oxfam

- Draw a purse in the middle of the page. In the purse write’ 2.5%of savings’. List around the outside who receives the money in bullet points.

What would we do without the trees?

What is this similar to? What is the season called where buds/fruit begin to grow?

 

-Write some sentences to explain how Jewish people care for their environment by planting trees when they celebrate the festival of Tu B’Shevat, the New Year of Trees.

-Draw your own tree and decorate with drawings of fruit and blossom.

-Draw a large Bodhi leaf to fill the page and cut out.

- On one side write the 4 Noble Truths and on the other side get them to pick two of the Eightfold path. Write them on your leaf and illustrate them.

-Draw a picture of earth and cut out.  Draw around your hands and colour. Cut out and stick onto the earth to imitate you holding the Earth.

- Write into your outline of your hand a few things that you take care of and how you can look after the Earth.
